"Tetra, the leader of the pirates, has put forth a challenge!" Link must pass all 12 of Tetra's test to become a pirate. Three other pirates are disguised as Link and battling with him in a little contest. The story takes place right after The Wind Waker, where Link has to prove himself worthy of being a pirate in Tetra's "Pirate Test". Likely because of the difficulties in rerecording voice acting in other languages, the mode was not included in all releases of Four Swords Adventures outside of Asia. Later, the game was included in the Japanese and Korean version of Four Swords Adventures as the multiplayer mode Navi Trackers. However, Nintendo canceled the project as a standalone game without any official announcements. When first announced at E3 2003 as The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Trackers, it was originally planned to be a stand-alone game release. The soundlink narration, similar to that used on BS The Legend of Zelda and Ancient Stone Tablets, became Tetra's narration and the characters were replaced with the Wind Waker pirates. It is also possible that if Navi ever returns in upcoming Legend of Zelda games, Nintendo may take a page out of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time port's features, and make sure the navigator offers hints at the player's request, instead of constantly pestering Link while he attempts to save Hyrule from imminent disaster.Navi Trackers began as a remake of the Satellaview game Marvelous: Mou Hitotsu no Takarajima ("Marvelous: Another Treasure Island"), an early game Eiji Aonuma worked on, and some images of these characters remain, unused, on the final disc.
#NAVI ZELDA PC#
While Navi's presence in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has become an iconic staple of the series, the ability to ignore her interactions through the fan-made PC port may be a relief for those wanting to experience the game without constant interruption. Even Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto hated Navi and considered removing the character’s hint-giving mechanic completely, wanting the puzzle-solving system to be more complex. While her help is important for solving puzzles, her hovering blue form and persistent cries to get Link's attention often make her presence more annoying than helpful. Navi is one of the many companions that can accompany Link through his different journeys across the Zelda series.
#NAVI ZELDA UPDATE#
The update gives players the ability to ignore Navi, Link's fairy navigator, effectively removing the annoying and persistent "hey listen" catchphrase she has been infamously known for. While the list is extensive, including the introduction of cheats, difficulty options, and support for higher frame rates, one new option is particularly exciting.
